Illustration-led animation for people with ideas worth explaining

Some ideas are difficult to explain.

A scientific concept. A medical breakthrough. A new technology.
Or a different way of working.

I use illustration and animation to help people understand ideas that might otherwise feel difficult, unfamiliar or abstract.

Whether the challenge is communicating research, explaining a service or bringing a complex subject to life, my goal is always the same:

Helping people connect with the idea behind it.

Hi. I’m Qais (like “ice”, but with a K)

Throughout my career, I've been drawn to projects that sit somewhere between expertise and communication.

The challenge isn't simplifying an idea until it loses its meaning.

It's finding the right visual language for it.

Helping people understand something they might otherwise scroll past, misunderstand or never quite connect with.

That's what I enjoy most.

Quanta Magazine

Exploring one of science's most fascinating mysteries

Turbulence is one of the great unsolved problems in physics and mathematics.

Working with Quanta Magazine, I created an animated film that explored this complex subject through illustration and motion, helping make an abstract scientific concept more approachable for a wider audience.

Aramore

Communicating specialist medical knowledge

Medical and scientific subjects often require years of expertise to fully understand.

For Aramore, the challenge was to communicate complex ideas in a way that felt clear, engaging and accessible without losing their accuracy or importance.

Ampla Finance

Making a financial proposition easier to grasp

Financial products can be difficult to explain, particularly when audiences are unfamiliar with the category.

Animation helped turn a complex proposition into a visual story that was easier to follow and quicker to understand.

Extensis HR

Bringing workplace ideas to life

The way we work continues to evolve, but communicating new approaches, policies and technologiesisn't always straightforward.

Through illustration and animation, this project helped make those ideas feel more human, relatable and accessible.

A common
thread

These projects come from very different worlds. Science. Healthcare. Finance and Workplace technology.

But they all share something in common.

They're ideas worth explaining.

And they're all examples of how illustration and animation can help people engage with subjects that aren't always easy to understand.

Who I tend to work with

I’m particularly interested in organisations that are generating knowledge, sharing expertise or helping people understand the world in different ways. That might be:

  • Publishers

  • Research organisations

  • Healthcare and life sciences teams

  • Educational organisations

  • Specialist consultancies

If there's an interesting idea at the heart of it, I'm usually curious.
